I find the contribution on the "Rennaisance of Taylorism" stimulating and interesting. It is remarkable how business strategies and approaches go in and out of fashion over the decades. This Denkzettel describes a currently very significant development with regard to the interaction between production processes and human resources, and demonstrates how managers react to the prevailing business environment, and not always positively or fairly.
The nature of managerial control and the latitude allowed to employees has always been controversial. Furthermore, the tendency is always there to look for easy, simple and quick solutions. Yet, these are not always the best ones. A more sophisticated and longer-term approach to fundamental managerial and production issues is surely more appropriate. This article summarises the current dilemma very cogently and compellingly.
